Figures and Tables

Guidelines for Images

  1. Quality

    • Resolution: Images should have high resolution, preferably at least 300 DPI (dots per inch), to ensure clarity and legibility.
    • Format: Use common and supported formats, such as JPEG, PNG, or TIFF. PDF images are not accepted.
  2. Size

    • Dimensions: Adjust the size of images to fit well within the journal layout without losing quality. Very large or small images may be adjusted during review if necessary.
  3. Captions

    • Description: Provide a descriptive caption for each image. The caption should be clear and informative, allowing the reader to understand the image content without needing to consult the text.
    • Location: Captions should be placed below the images.
  4. Design and Presentation

    • Legibility: Images should be sharp and text within them should be readable. Avoid using small text that may be difficult to read.
    • Consistency: Maintain a consistent style in images, using colors and fonts uniformly.

Guidelines for Tables

  1. Format and Style

    • Format: Tables should be presented in editable formats, such as Word or Excel. Avoid embedding tables as images.
    • Design: Use clear and simple formatting. Tables should be organized so that data is easily understandable. Use rows and columns in a way that does not overwhelm the reader.
  2. Captions

    • Description: Include a descriptive caption above the table. The caption should clearly explain the content of the table and provide enough context for data interpretation.
    • Title: Add a title summarizing the purpose of the table.
  3. Size and Formatting

    • Size: Adjust the size of tables to fit within the journal layout. Ensure that the table is not too extensive to avoid the need for scrolling or adjusting the view.
    • Font: Calibri (size 12 for titles and size 8 for table body)
  4. Consistency

    • Style: Maintain a consistent style in tables, following the journal’s formatting guidelines.
